Happier Neighbourhoods Competition

Answer the following question:

If you could make your neighbourhood better for all children, what would you suggest?

Rules:

  • You must be between 5 and 16 years old.
  • You must include your name, surname and email.
  • Your entry must be your original idea.
  • You can write or speak in Maltese or English.
  • You must give at least two suggestions in your entry.
  • You must give a reason why you think your ideas will work.

Important!! Your ideas should be your own work, without help from adults.

When to Send Your Ideas
From 21st May 2025 until 4th July 2025.

  • On the Empowering Children App at empoweringchildren.gov.mt

  • By post to: Public Service Expo Competition, Coordination and Implementation Directorate, 310 Palazzo Ferreria, Republic Street, Valletta
  • By hand, even during the 2025 Public Service Expo

How to Share Them

  • Write a short text
  • Send a voice message
  • Shoot a video
  • Draw or paint a picture

Prizes
There will be prizes for the top four winners in each age group:

  • Ages 5 to 10
  • Ages 11 to 16

How We Choose the Winners

We will look for:

  • At least two suggestions in your entry
  • A clear reason why you think your ideas will make your neighbourhood better
  • Ideas that help all children feel happy and safe
  • New ideas that are not already used in your area or in Malta

The selection committee will be made up of adults and young persons.
