The Lanzarote Convention

🟡✨ The Lanzarote Convention

This book is about the Lanzarote Convention*.

This is a promise that grown-ups will help keep children safe from harm.

It talks about four ways to protect children:

*A convention is an agreement between many countries.

💡 Help Them Learn

About what is safe and what is not.

🤝 Get Help

You can tell a grown-up.
You can call a helpline for support.

🚫 No Hurting Allowed

It’s against the law to touch children in a way that hurts, frightens, or worries them.

🌍 Working Together

Countries have rules to keep children safe.

💛 Your Body Belongs To You

No one should touch your body if you don’t want them to.

You can say NO to hugs, kisses, or touches that make you feel uncomfortable.

Even if it’s someone you know, or someone older — you can say NO.
You are in charge of your body.

🚫 What is not okay?

It is not okay for anyone to:

  • Touch your private parts.
  • Ask you to touch someone else’s private parts.
  • Show you pictures or videos that make you uncomfortable.
  • Ask you to keep secrets about touching.

Even if they say it’s a “game” or “our secret” — it is never OK.

Always ask a grown-up for help.
If you are asked to keep a secret that makes you feel uncomfortable, tell an adult you trust!

💬 Remember

It is never your fault.
You did nothing wrong.

🛡️ Who keeps you safe?

Grown-ups are there to help you:

👩‍🏫 Teachers
👨‍⚕️ Doctors and nurses
👮 Police
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Your family and trusted adults

Tell someone — even if it’s hard.

⚠️ If someone tries to hurt you

  • Tell a safe adult.
  • Call the helpline 179.

Don’t deal with it alone.
There is help.

🌍 Many countries agree to:

✔️ Protect children
✔️ Stop people who hurt children
✔️ Help children and keep them safe

📱 Staying Safe Online

When you use a phone, tablet, or digital device:

🚫 No one should ask you for pictures or videos of your body.
❌ No one should send you messages that feel weird or make you uncomfortable.
✔️ If someone does, report it straight away!

If something feels wrong or strange, tell a grown-up you trust.

🗣️ Your voice matters.

You have the right to be safe.
You have the right to be heard.
You have the right to get help.
